20 Tips For Cleaning Bathroom
Although we use our bathroom regularly, and it is the place we use to clean ourselves, it may be dirtier than we think. However, there are ways to help make cleaning your bathroom easier. We’ve gathered the top 20 tips for cleaning your bathroom so you can easily clean it like a pro.
1 – Use Vinegar for Your Shower
To help clean your shower tiles and keep them sparkling clean, you should use vinegar and not harsh chemicals. You can take straight vinegar or mix it with a tablespoon of dish soap. The best way is to heat it in the microwave first and then spray it on while it is still warm.
2 – Use a Dish Brush
Use a dish brush and gloves if you have mold or mildew in your bathroom. This will allow you to scrub the mold or mildew without harming yourself. The best way to tackle your mold or mildew is with a ¼ cup of bleach with 6 cups of warm water. Make sure to rinse thoroughly and have a well-ventilated area before using the bleach.
3 – Baking Soda on Mold Stains
After using the bleach solution, if you still have mold stains, you can create a paste with baking soda and water. You will want to cover the stain, leave it for three to four hours, and then thoroughly rinse.
4 – How to Deodorize the Drain
If your drain has some unpleasant odors or typically gets backed up, you can fix it with vinegar and baking soda. You will want to pour 1 cup of baking soda down your drain and then 2 cups of vinegar. You can leave it alone for about thirty minutes, then flush it with hot water. This will remove any clog or smells, and you can repeat it as needed.
5 – Dental Floss for Your Sink
Unfortunately, some parts of the sink can be too hard to reach with our typical cleaning tools. This is where some dental floss can help remove the buildup of the faucet and handles.
6 – Dryer Sheets to Fix Soap Scum
If you have stubborn soap scum in your shower or tub, you can use a dryer sheet to help you remove it. Remove a new dryer sheet, add a few drops of water, and then scrub the soap scum area. Rinse thoroughly, and the soap scum should be gone.
7 – Easily Shine Your Fixtures
If you have dull-looking faucets, lights, or other fixtures within your bathroom, you can use a new dryer sheet to restore the shine on chrome fixtures.
8 – Denture Tablets Clean Toilets
If you don’t feel like scrubbing your toilet clean today, you can drop a denture tablet in the toilet bowl. Let it sit for about 30 minutes and then flush. The denture tablet will help eliminate stains and rust within your toilet bowl without scrubbing.
9 – Squeegees on Windows and Glass
If you find your bathroom mirror or shower glass isn’t getting 100% clean with glass cleaner, you should use a squeegee instead of a towel. You will want to spray your glass cleaner and then use wave-like sweeping motions to clean your glass. If you use vertical or horizontal lines, you can still get streaking, but the wave-like motion prevents streaks.
10 – Deodorize and Clean with Citrus
If you have water spots on your chrome fixtures, you can fix them with half a lemon. Cut a lemon in half, and then rub half of your lemon on your fixtures. All spots will disappear, and your fixtures will smell fantastic.
11 – Black Tea Can Restore Your Mirror
Many rely on their bathroom mirrors to see their appearance before leaving home. You can easily use black tea to keep your mirror in tip-top shape. Boil a cup of water and put 2-3 tea bags in the cup. Once the tea is cool, you can use your solutions to clean your cloudy or dirty mirror.
12 – Your Toothbrush Holder
Day after day, we place our toothbrushes in our holder but rarely stop cleaning the holder. Easily enough, all you have to do is wash your toothbrush holder in the dishwasher. Ensure your holder is dishwasher safe, but most can go on the top rack.
13 – Clean Your Bathtub with a Broom
Rather than scrubbing your entire bathtub with a small sponge, you can easily spray your solution and use a clean broom to sweep it up. A broom will be just as effective with a lot less work.
14 – Prevent Rust Stains
Metal shaving cream can create rust stains or hard-to-clean marks. Rather than allowing them to leave those marks behind, you can prevent them altogether. Take clear nail polish and paint the bottom rim of the metal shaving cream cans. You can do 1-2 coats and have prevented the rust before it’s a problem.
15 – Shower Head Cleaner
If your shower head is clogged, not providing the best flow of water, or just dirty, you can easily clean it with little effort. Take a Ziploc bag and fill it about halfway with vinegar. Put the Ziploc bag on your shower head and secure it with a hair tie or rubber band. Allow it to soak for at least 30 minutes, and then when you remove the Ziploc bag, you should be able to rinse it clean.
16 – Rain-X on Glass Doors
Rain-X was invented to help keep your car windshield clean in a storm. As such, it also works great on glass shower doors. You can easily spray Rain-X on your glass shower door before using your shower. This should help prevent the water from sticking to your door and get it to run off.
17 – Cotton Balls Clean Small Spaces
If you find your tub corners or faucet areas are too small to clean well, you can use cotton balls. Soak the cotton balls in whatever cleaner you need and place them in the areas you need. Allow them to sit overnight and then rinse clean.
18 – Easy Grout Cleaning
Anytime your grout lines get dirty on your floor, it can make your whole bathroom look and feel dirty, even if it’s not. However, you can easily restore the tiles and grout lines by making a paste from baking soda and bleach. Take ¾ cup baking soda and ¼ cup bleach and carefully mix while wearing gloves. Put the paste on your grout lines and let it sit for about 30 minutes. You can use a cloth, scrub brush, or sponge to wipe up.
19 – Wash Plastic Shower Curtains and Liners
To easily clean and restore your plastic shower curtains or liners, toss them into the washing machine with a few towels and hang them to dry.
20 – Clean and Organize
So often, we are busy cleaning our bathroom, and don’t worry about cleaning our medicine cabinet, drawers, or other items. If you stop and check expiration dates and throw out anything that is expired, then when you go back for your items, you will know you are always using the best products.
